Most of the time, fleas lay their eggs on their host. The eggs are completely smooth, so they slide off of the host and land in its environment. In people’s homes, the eggs sink deep into carpet fibers and into floor cracks.

In order to develop, flea eggs need a warm, moist environment: a temperature of about 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius) and 70 to 85 percent humidity. In these conditions, the eggs hatch in about 12 days. This 12-day window is one of the reasons why it can be hard to get rid of fleas. Some insecticides kill adult fleas but not eggs, which means a whole new set of fleas can emerge after the adults have died.

Our non-toxic flea treatment ensures that your home is healthy and your family wont be irritated. It also saves you the embarrasment of vistors to your home being bitten by these uninvited guests.

Carpet beetles

Carpet beetles belong to the family of beetles known as dermestids. These insects are pests in warehouses, homes, museums, and other locations where suitable food exists. Carpet beetles cause serious damage to fabrics, carpets, furs, stored foods, and preserved specimens.

Damage is caused by the larval stage of carpet beetles. Larvae feed in dark, undisturbed locations on a variety of dead animals and animal products, such as wool, silk, leather and fur.The beetles are more likely to damage a large area on one portion of a garment or carpet. Also, carpet beetle larvae leave brown, shell-like, bristly looking cast skins when they moult.

Carpet beetles are among the most difficult indoor pests to control because of their ability to find food in obscure places and to disperse widely throughout a building. Successful control depends on integrating the use of sanitation and exclusion, and, where necessary, insecticides.

Dry cleaning or thoroughly laundering items in hot water kills all stages of these insects. ENVIRO’s ‘hot water extraction’ method is ideal for carpet beetle elimination.
